The Pillows of Life… well Sleep!
As a kid, I don’t ever remember having a new pillow, but today, it seems almost mandatory! The adverts tell me that the latest pillow, and or mattress is the definitive thing. Until next week when there is a better one, apparently!
Now, I’m moaning about my pillows! They are so bad! As a child, my memories of the pillow remain soft, with little feathers popping out now and then. Today, they start nice and soft and fluffy, then end up twisted, inflexible and unwilling to take part in anything like sleep! They seem to be made from something, most definitely not natural and smell strange at first. I’ve tried the so-called, ‘Memory Foam’ pillow that contours to you head. These just entrap my head and stop it moving, plus go hard. I heard NASA used them. I can only assume the astronauts don’t sleep that well or is being weightless the key?
Are pillows made like this? Is this the manufactures way of getting us to buy more continually? This does seem to be the normal state in many aspects of life, such as fashion, food and the ever, latest, updated, better than ever new model.
This may seem trivial at first, but sleep is a major contributing factor to good living. Poor sleep relates to poor mental health and certainly to dementia-related problems.
We all need good quality sleep, or our health will fail!
I want to know if you have any suggestions, recommendations and thoughts about the not so humble pillow?
Please comment on anything I have said. Thank You!
